June 18: Lots of stuff blooming already along Cascade Lakes Highway. I spotted bog orchids, blue-eyed grass, paintbrush, wild strawberry, cinquefoil, rosy twisted stalk and bunchberry.

It's the first week of April and Yellow Bells and Hood's Phlox are blooming at Crooked River Ranch, along with small-flowered Blue-eyed Mary and Prairie Star Flower. The Arrow-leaf Balsamroot have buds, and the Carey's Balsamroot is not far behind. Biscuitroot is blooming, too. There are hundreds of rosettes of Bitterroot along the Deschutes Canyon south of my house. When they bloom, it will be an extravaganza. Contact me if you are interested in joining FANs for a Weed Workshop on April 26th or a Native Plant Workshop on May 17th. Both will involve short walks.

I heard that browns' peony may be starting to bloom along the Deschutes River Trail near the Big Eddy. Will try and get out there this weekend to see for myself.
