Medusa-head grassThe High Desert Chapter has been assisting the Crooked River National Grasslands of the Ochoco National Forest with a special project to help understand how to control medusa-head invasive grasses on the Grasslands.
An exclosure has been fenced off and a prescribed burn has been done. The area has been sprayed and some native grass and forbs have been seeded. The CRNG have been reading plots to determine how effective the treatments have been. There area is below Pine Ridge which is one of the best grasslands left in Central Oregon. It is near Skull Campground and McCoin orchard near Gray Butte and Smith Rocks. Watch our field trips for an opportunity to visit. |
